What Is A Dental Check Up?
A dental checkup is a detailed evaluation of oral tissues. During a dental checkup, the dentist will listen to your complaints, and do a comprehensive examination of your teeth, tongue, soft tissue, gum, and palate.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A DENTAL CHECKUP
During a dental checkup, the dentist will listen/ to your problem, they will then examine your mouth comprehensively.
In some cases, they might need to do investigations such as x-rays, photographs, study models, etc. where appropriate.
They will then make a comprehensive diagnosis and a treatment plan.
DO I NEED A DENTAL CHECK-UP
Dental checkups are important because it is hard to do correct self-diagnosis at home. A lot of dental issues develop over a long period of time, so during a dental check, the dentist might be able to pick issues patients didn’t know they had.
Early detection/ diagnosis in most cases improves the outcome of the treatment, saves on costs, and minimizes the damage of the disease.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE A DENTAL CHECKUP DONE
The checkup should be done twice a year. The dentist might decide to give you longer or check-up timelines depending on oral status.
