Early detection of dental disease is very important. Early diagnosis ensures early management of the disease hence ensuring a better prognosis. In some cases, it is more cost-effective to treat the disease in its early stages which prevents the requirement of more complex procedures.

EARLY SIGNS OF DENTAL DISEASE

Some of the signs include but are not limited to-:

Bad breath

Bad breath can be caused by various reasons, such as gum diseases, cavities, poor oral hygiene, etc.

If you are experiencing bad breath, it is imperative to visit a dentist so they can make a proper diagnosis and treat the cause early on.

Sensitivity

Sensitivity could happen spontaneously, on taking drinks or when eating.

It usually is indicative of a dental issue such as cavities, erosion of teeth, wear and tear, and dentine hypersensitivity.

However, it is imperative to visit a dentist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Bleeding gums.

There are many causes of bleeding gums both intra-oral and within the system.

Causes of bleeding gums could include gum diseases, ill-fitting dentures, vitamin C or K deficiencies, and pregnancy.

Cavities

Cavities can present as discoloration or roughness without necessarily causing pain.

When this is noted, it is imperative to visit a dentist before it becomes more severe.

Pain

Dental pain coming from any oral tissue is indicative of a problem. The pain could be from teeth, the maxilla or mandible, the tongue, or even the gums.

Persistent mouth ulcers

Oral ulcers occur from time to time, due to various reasons such as stress, and immunosuppression. However, they resolve quite quickly, within a few days.

If someone is experiencing persistent oral ulcers, or if they don’t heal, it is advisable to visit a dentist.

In order to capture early signs of dental disease, we recommend you go for regular checkups twice a year for better oral health. To book a check-up with us contact us on 0748877562.
